Limpid Chess is a single-player chess game made by Lone Bee, for Android and for your web browser. It is built to need as little of your data as possible.
The short version
Limpid Chess does not collect, store, or share personal information about you. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking, and the game works offline. Your progress stays on your device, and we never receive it.
What stays on your device
The game keeps one small progress file: your Premium status, your settings (language, sound, daily reminder), today's free games, and your progress (games played, day streak, best puzzle run, bots beaten, an unfinished puzzle run). If you bought Premium on the web, it also holds your license key.
- Android app: the file sits in the app's private storage. If your phone's backup is turned on, Android may include it in your Google account backup, and when you uninstall, Android may offer to keep it.
- Web version: the file is kept in your browser's storage for this website. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it. Some browsers, like Safari, also clear it when you have not visited for a while.
We never receive this file.
Daily reminder
On Android, the optional daily reminder is a notification scheduled on your device. No server is involved, and you can turn it off in the settings.
Purchases
- Android: the optional one-time Premium upgrade is processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details, and the app only learns whether the upgrade was purchased. Google's privacy policy applies.
- Web: Premium is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which processes the payment as the merchant of record and emails you a license key. We never see your card or payment details. When you enter your key, and at most once a day when you open the game, the game sends the key and the identifier of this activation to Lemon Squeezy to check that it is valid. Nothing else is sent. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy applies to the purchase.
The move to a new address
In October 2026 the web version moved from limpidchess.com to limpidchess.lonebee.games. Browsers keep each website's data separate, so when you open the old address, a page there reads the progress file your browser kept for it (including your license key, if you bought Premium on the web) and opens the new address with that file inside the link. It sits in the part of the link after the "#", which browsers never send to any server, and the game saves it at the new address. All of this happens in your browser: we never receive it. Like any page you visit, that link stays in your browser history, and in history sync if you use it. Clearing your browsing history removes it.
Websites and hosting
The website and the web version are served by GitHub Pages, and the old address limpidchess.com by Cloudflare. Like any web host, they receive your IP address to deliver the pages and may keep short-lived logs for security, under their own privacy policies. The chess engine runs on your device, in your browser for the web version.
Opening other websites
Links on the About screen (source code, fonts, icons, chess engine) open their websites in your browser, and the rating prompt may open the Google Play listing. We do not control these third-party sites; their own privacy policies apply.
Children
Limpid Chess is suitable for children and collects no personal data from anyone, including children. We do not knowingly collect data from children, or from anyone else.
Information collected by Google Play
When you install from Google Play, Google may collect standard, aggregate information (for example install and crash statistics) under its own policies. If you choose to rate the game from inside the app, Google Play handles the rating. The app itself adds no analytics or tracking on top of this.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
